What is RE-JAMB (Protective Door Jamb Covers & Shield Guards)?
RE-JAMB is a maintenance free white PVC product new to the market made to cover, seal, and protect the existing wood door jambs. They can be painted if desired. RE-JAMB comes in 2 different kits; ReJamb Protective Door Jamb Covers to do the entire door jamb and Rejamb Shield Guards to do the bottom 12 inches of the door jamb. These kits will fit most exterior wood jambs for 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 home construction.
In the past, when a door jamb started to show sign of deterioration, the only way to repair it was to replace the entire door unit (door and frame). This can be very expensive because it entails removing and replacing interior and exterior wood trim casings, removing and replacing the door unit, and in some cases removing and replacing some of the house siding as well. The cost for a single door unit replacement will typically cost between $800.00 to $1000.00, plus miscellaneous trim materials, not including any rot damage that may be found after door unit is removed. Shield Guards will typically cost 1/10 of the cost of a door replacement.
